Much like the archetypal, over-the-top villains, Twilight Sparkle is overly confident of herself and dramatically declares that the protagonist is a fool (foal) for thinking she can defeat her, and that she will rule the 'endlessly growing pony - verse' forever. She is portrayed as vicious and maniacal, shown when she attacks Lyra Heartstrings and cackles evilly in Beginning of the Day. She is less aggressive than Fluttershy, but is the most arrogant and cunning.
The narration at the beginning of The First Day speaks of Stella's bitterness which transformed her permanently. When she first appears, she intimidates the ponies with her evil laugh and pointed questions. She snidely refers to the ponies as her "beloved subjects," but appears genuinely impressed when Fluttershy recognizes her as Twilight Sparkle.
As shown in the episode, "Take On", when Minuette and Twinkleshine panic and flee, and after a few seconds of indecision, Twilight stops the commotion by shouting "Be still!" in her howling voice, to the accompaniment of a crack of thunder. This shows that she is very arrogant and very rude that she can yell at the Cutie Mark Crusaders, as shown in Leaning Feelings.
However, as the old Twilight she is very kind and somehow cunning.
